The Wadden Island of Ameland
A boattrip of about 45 minutes crossing the Wadden Sea will take you into a whole different world. Ameland can hardly be compared to one ot the other four Islands. The Island has a distinctive atmosphere, which can only be experienced properly by means of a personal visit.
Ameland is a many-sided island with much to offer to visitors. Nature-lovers in particular will find plenty of interest here. You can take a bicycle ride to explore some superb nature reserves, such as 'het Oerd', and there are many walking trails that take you to the most picturesque places. This means that you can enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna to the fullest, at any time of the year.
If you prefer to seek your recreation in sports, please ask about the many facilities the island offers. Among the many activities available are horse riding, golf, parachute jumping and fishing. And if the weather is not quite perfect, there are plenty of alternatives. Ameland has several interesting museums, which will give you an insight into the culture and traditions of this unique island.
